RIDE PUPPYTON.

A Vienna-based road cycling community built on ambition, inclusivity, and shared moments on and off the bike.

Our Rides

  • Every Wednesday at 17:30 in summer, 16:30 in October.

The original Wednesday ride and the heart of Puppyton.

A structured group ride with a fixed route and clearly defined pace groups. The ride includes four speed groups:

    Neutral — relaxed & beginner-friendly
    Peloton — strong & steady
    Chasing — fast & focused
    Leadout — full gas

Whether you’re chasing wheels or finding your rhythm, there’s a place for you in the group.

Please note that routes differ depending on the speed group you choose. The ride finishes at Poidlhütte for an evening drink.

For weekly updates, route briefings and last-minute changes, please visit our events section in our Strava Community.

  • Every Thursday at 06:30 during summer.

The recovery spin edition of Puppyton.

A relaxed morning recovery ride designed to flush the legs, start the day together on the bike, and still make it to work in time.

There are two start locations: Schönbrunn and Reichsbrücke, and a coffee or snack stop at the end of the ride is part of the tradition.

This ride is reserved for members and the ride details, weekly updates, route information are published on our Strava for Members Page.

More information on how to become a member can be found here.

  • This format is currently a work in progress. We’re actively refining it and plan to introduce it as an official weekly Puppyton ride in 2026.

A short-and-sweet after-work interval ride designed to get quality work done and set the tone for the week.

Once launched, ride details, weekly updates, route information will be published on our Strava for Members Page.

OUR CULTURE
OUR VALUES
OUR RULES.

Our values and rules exist to make sure everyone feels welcome, safe and part of the group. Please take a moment to read through them so we can ride together with clarity, respect and good vibes.

  • Caring over competition. Whether the pace is fast or slow, we ride together. Group rides are about interaction. No headphones. No podcasts. Getting to know future friends is part of the ride.

  • Wednesday rides offer multiple pace groups. If you are unsure which pace you belong to, choose the slower group. You can always move up next time. If the pace is too high, let the group go without frustration. If it is too slow, respect the group, maintain the pace, and swallow your inner Gustav.

  • If you are strong, you protect the group. Ride predictably, anticipate risks, and look out for others — especially on no-drop rides. Support without ego and without being patronizing.

  • On no-drop rides we regroup after climbs, descents and whenever riders fall behind. If you leave early, communicate clearly. Helping others with tools, advice when asked or patience is part of the Puppyton spirit.

  • Have the day’s route available before the ride. A GPS bike computer is strongly recommended. If you ride without one, make sure you know the route well.

OUR SAFETY PROTOCOL

Group rides require structure. Our safety protocol defines how official Puppyton rides are planned, communicated and conducted — before, during and after every ride.

    • Official Puppyton rides are published as Strava events.

    • Strava event descriptions include details on the route, format, pace groups and applicable rules.

    • Only officially published rides are considered club rides.

    • Ride captains are assigned and clearly announced before the ride.

    • Club members are covered by BSO liability insurance during official Puppyton rides.

    • Routes are planned with safety as a priority. Traffic flow, road width, surface quality and critical intersections are considered to minimize unnecessary risk.

    • Sections that feel unsafe or unpredictable are reviewed and adjusted.

    • Where required, specific sections may be neutralized to reduce risk.

    • Route updates are communicated via Strava.

    • A ride captain provides a pre-ride briefing covering route specifics, group structure and safety reminders.

    • Riders choose the appropriate pace group based on experience and current fitness.

    • Large groups are split into smaller pace groups to improve safety and manageability.

    • Extreme weather conditions may lead to cancellation or adjustments, communicated via Strava.

    • Participants must bring required equipment. Helmets are mandatory. Road bikes with drop bars only. Lights when conditions require.

    • The ride captain has final say on safety-related decisions.

    • Traffic rules are followed at all times.

    • Group riding rules regarding rotation, signaling and formation apply.

    • Some sections may be ridden in neutral mode.

    • On no-drop rides, we regroup after climbs and descents.

    • Riders are expected to communicate hazards clearly and pass signals through the group.

    • Feedback from ride captains and participants informs future route decisions.

    • Routes are adjusted if recurring risk points are identified.

    • Safety observations are discussed internally and used to improve future rides.
