OUR CULTURE
OUR VALUES
OUR RULES.
Our values and rules exist to make sure everyone feels welcome, safe and part of the group. Please take a moment to read through them so we can ride together with clarity, respect and good vibes.
-
Puppyton is built for motivated cyclists, not a certain background, look or level. We believe cycling is better when it's accessible, inclusive and genuinely welcoming. Every new rider should feel like they belong from day one.
-
We love getting stronger, pushing ourselves and celebrating progress. But we never confuse community with competition. The best rides challenge you while leaving everyone smiling.
-
Cycling is a team sport, even when you're chasing your own goals. We share our knowledge, parts, tools and encourage each other. Strong riders can help build to a stronger community.
-
Puppyton is about friendships, shared experiences and a community people want to come back to. We value curiosity, openness and spending time together on and off the bike.
-
Some behaviours simply don't belong at Puppyton. We do not accept discrimination, sexism, racism, xenophobia, harassment, predatory behaviour, exclusion or actions that knowingly put others at risk. Our community only works when everyone feels safe, respected and welcome.
If you experience or witness behaviour that goes against these values, please report it to any of the board members. Protecting our culture is everyone's responsibility.
OUR SAFETY PROTOCOL
Great group rides require structure. Our safety protocol defines how official Puppyton rides are planned, communicated and conducted — before, during and after every ride.
-
Official Puppyton rides are published as Strava events. Only those are considered club rides.
Strava event descriptions include details on the route, pace groups and relevant route information.
Ride captains are assigned for each group and clearly announced before the ride.
Our ride rules and liability terms are listed in our waiver.
Club members are covered by BSO liability insurance during official Puppyton rides.
-
Routes are planned with safety as a priority. Traffic flow, road width, surface quality and critical intersections are considered to minimize unnecessary risk.
Sections that feel unsafe or unpredictable are reviewed and neutralized or adjusted.
Route updates are communicated via Strava.
-
A ride captain provides a pre-ride briefing covering route specifics, group structure and safety reminders.
Riders choose the appropriate pace group based on experience and current fitness.
Large groups are split into smaller pace groups to improve safety and communication.
Extreme weather conditions may lead to cancellation or adjustments, communicated via Strava.
Participants without the required equipment cannot participate: helmet, drop bar road bike, lights when conditions require.
-
The ride captain has final say on safety-related decisions.
Traffic rules are followed at all times.
Group riding rules regarding rotation, signaling and formation apply.
Some sections may be ridden in neutralized manner.
On no-drop rides, we regroup after climbs and descents.
Riders are expected to communicate hazards clearly and pass signals through the group.
-
Feedback from ride captains and participants inform future route decisions.
Routes are adjusted if recurring risk points are identified.
Safety observations are discussed internally and used to improve future rides.
